A Taste of La Frontera: The Official Review
Arriving at 6pm last night at the Brownsville Events Center I noticed that the line was not long as in previous years. I immediately began to wonder if it was going to be a bust of an event. I walked up to the gentleman that was taking the tickets. He looked at me with a warming smile and welcomed us to the event. Upon entering the venue I was immediately greeted by the staff of the Mr. Amigo association and of course the President of that association, Mr. Robert Avitia. He stuck out his hand and welcomed my wife and I into the event.
I was amazed at how many vendors there were and how many people crowded the booths around those vendors. There were all types of foods to sample ranging from taquitos, ribs, sweet bread, and many more goodies. Where else can you pay 25 dollars and taste all of the local cuisine and drink some wine. Sign me up; I’ll be there for all of them.
The festivities included live music and even a raffle. The attendance was unbelievable, people were scampering around with plates and drinks in their hands, laughing and having a great time.
I was very impressed with how the evening went. The food was great, the drinks were cold, and the company was exceptional. There was people from all types of professions, politicians, medical professionals, attorneys, and the list goes on and on.
I would rate this experience a 10, beginning with how Robert Avitia tended to all of the guests. He literally would walk around shaking people’s hands, a subtle kiss on the cheek and a smile on his face the entire time. Very classy.
I have attended this function before in previous years and have found that this one, was one of the best. Thanks to Mr. Avitia and the Mr. Amigo Association staff.
Now, on to Charro Days!
